Lucia Milan likes to share her private ‘mindgarden’ by creating the most beautiful heart touching flower arrangements. In her ‘Studio Floral’ she invites others to share her lovestory for flowers. With flimsiness and passion she creates multisensory flower experiences. Inspiring us to ‘feel nature, as it’s touching your life'_______.

What’s your earliest memory of plants and flowers?

Lucia: “One of my earliest memories is when I was about 5 to 6 years old, when, as a good Aquarian, I got lost from my mom at São Paulo Flower Market because I was mesmerised with so many colours, flowers, plants, sounds and people. Since this happened quite often, I followed my mother’s instruction: I stood still until she walked her way back to find me lost in my thoughts of flowers.”

What’s your most romantic memory on plants and flowers?

“My most romantic memories on plants are connected to my walks through the tropical florest at Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, where my family has a beach house. Walking slowly through those trails, feels like a private party. I begin to fall in love as the sun passes through the leaves, I catch glances of small animals and start to appreciate everything my eyes catch a glimpse of – green and grey mosses, wild mushrooms, twisted branches and dried leaves. Surrounded by all that green, I feel involved by nature’s energy.”

The smell of fresh flowers makes me feel...

“Like I’m smelling morning coffee. I am ready to start the day, creating my daily arrangements, listening to a very good soundtrack.”

“WALKING SLOWLY THROUGH THOSE TRAILS OF THE TROPICAL FOREST AT PARATY, RIO DE JANEIRO, FEELS LIKE MY OWN PRIVATE PARTY_______.”

When I see Peonies I want to...

“...buy them all (in Brazil they are very expensive) and keep them at home beside my bed.”

What IG’ers inspire you in a flowery way?

“A lot, but these come to mind: @azumamakoto; @maxgilldesign; @simplebyarrangements; @francespalmer; @rebeccalouiselaw and so many others that I could mention.”

I’m in love with plants and flowers since....

“Before my mom became a professional florist, she used to decorate friends and neighbour’s homes all the time. One day she asked me to help her. My first task was a big rustic terracotta pot with sunflowers – I immediately fell in love with the creation process that I had to figure out by myself. That was my turning point. A while later we opened our first flower shop together.”

Without flowers, life would be....

“lifeless, colourless and so, so sad.”

What do you think is the most memorable fashion show with flowers?

“At Raf Simons debut for Dior Paris Fashion Week, July 2013. All those walls covered by thousands of blooms - just beautiful!”

What’s in your opinion the most memorable installation with flowers?

“I’m super in love with Rebecca Louise Law’s art installations.”

What do you think is an inspiring way to wrap your flowers you’d give someone for christmas?

“A large bouquet wrapped with craft paper, tied up with a beautiful vintage ribbon. I also like to add some small pine twigs and some little pine cones... anything that gives a fresh and natural feeling to the package.”

What’s your favorite vase to install your flowers in? (And what good does that vase to your flowers?)

“I love vintage vases and anything at home that can hold some flowers - mugs, porcelain jars, tea pots and especially antique soup bowls (even with little cracks or broken). Lately I’ve been cutting nice bottles of gin, whisky and vodka, taking advantage of the cool labels to incorporate them into my designs_______.”
